The condo has windows looking both to the street and to the inner courtyard. It is very bright all day long. All windows have been replaced recently; they are double-pane windows providing excellent insulation in the winter. The windows also have mosquito nets and roller blades installed. I also love the built-in kitchen that is comfortable, holds all kitchen appliances and has space for everything.
Quiet street with large, shady trees. You will always find parking space, but you don’t really need a car here. You can get anywhere fast by hopping on a bus at Kosztolanyi tér. You can stroll to the park in a few minutes; the park has a lake, a large, very well equipped playground, a tennis club and a lot of pretty, grassy space to run around.
The house has an inner courtyard with large old trees, a grassy area and a spacious clean sandbox.
The storage area in the basement is huge and only belongs to this condo. It will store all your boxes and other ’stuff’.

A little history: we moved into the apartment five years ago before we had children. We were looking for an apartment that was spacious, but not too large as to be unmanageable. We also craved a location that was near to several main public transportation lines and within walking distance of downtown Budapest. We found it!
Located just off of Kosztolanyi Dezso Square, home of the famous “Bottomless Lake” and Hemmingway Restaurant, our apartment on Tas Vezer utca has given us a new perspective on life in Budapest. We have found life here to be easy and relaxed.
It’s easy because of the flat’s location to several major shopping and food destinations (MOM Park, Moritz, Vaci utca, the covered market, and the soon-to-be-completed Ujbuda Shopping Center… located where Skala used to be). It’s relaxed because of the wonderful layout of the apartment itself.
The apartment crosses the length of our building which gives us windows to the west looking down onto the quiet, leafy street below and windows to the east which look down onto the tranquil inner courtyard which is ringed, in true Eastern European fashion, by our building and the surrounding buildings on our block. Due to the windows on both sides we have terrific cross ventilation in the warm summer months (even though we also have air-conditioning for those upper 90 degree days that crop up from time to time). There is also a balcony that holds a summer table and chairs for late-night dinners overlooking Gellert Hill.
The apartment itself is completely renovated. There is an American-style kitchen which opens out onto the dining area and living room. The two bedrooms, which are located on the western side of the building, are guaranteed bright daylight throughout the daytime hours. The bathroom seems huge by local standards and it contains a shower and a bathtub in addition to a toilet. There is also a second toilet near to the apartment entrance.
The windows are all new which has brought out heating costs down a great deal…and they have new shutters.
The apartment is furnished with cable television and with broadband internet access. Due to the built-in nature of our furniture much of the original furnishings will be left with the apartment.
The apartment building has it’s own inner yard which is covered with grass. The apartment also has a 15 square meter cellar space exclusively belonging to us. That extra storage has come in extremely handy!
The only reason we are selling is because we now have two energetic boys who are craving a bit more space. Otherwise we would never dream of leaving this area or this apartment which has been our home for the last five years.
So, if you are interested in a relaxed, comfortable apartment within walking distance of much of what Budapest has to offer… this just might be for you!
