What Was it Like to Live in this Home

Our home has been a haven to our family for the last 10years. It is situated in a tranquil and friendly community. Each morning we would awake to the rustling of trees and the singing of birds, and would later hear the chiming of the bells from the rustic church across the street. We could also enjoy the back patio for cook outs with friends or read a book on the back swing while overlooking the beauty of the rock garden.

But surprisingly, along with this country-like coziness, we enjoyed the relative nearness to the city with the convenience of nearby bus stops and a mere 5 minute walking distance to the Campona mall.

Initially we were concerned about the small yard, especially since we were raising two active young boys. But we soon discovered that along with the neighbor children, they could easily and safely play floor hockey, soccer and other games in the small road in front of our house, as the neighbors in this cul-de-sac are very careful around the children. Actually, later we realized the advantages of mowing and caring for such a small piece of land.

The layout of the home was nice for our family as well. It is designed in such a way where several different things can take place in the house at once without one disturbing the other. For instance, my husband could have meetings in the top floor office while the kids played freely in their basement playroom without fear of disruption.

But yet the kitchen and living areas were plenty large to host even large groups where everyone could be together. I loved preparing meals in the spacious and well-equipped kitchen. With plenty of counter space, very modern and upgraded appliances, along with lots of cleverly designed cabinets with a place for everything, it was easy to keep organized and efficient, even when hosting large groups for meals. But the efficient storage space was not limited to the kitchen.

We were concerned about the lack of storage in many European homes, but this house has an efficient basement closet, under the stairs storage, efficient storage systems in the garage, one full wall of built-ins in the attic, as well as sheds in the back AND front yards. It was easy to stay organized and keep the house clutter-free.

But my favorite feature of the house was lots and lots of natural light. Our house was always bright and cheerful as it had very large windows in most rooms of the house.
